Is it possible to upgrade an iBook (clamshell) to Leopard and to the modern specs?

My cousin is graduating and we will be buying her a laptop. She has always joked saying that she wanted a 'legeally blonde' laptop- the tangerine iBook. We would love to buy her one except-
a) they are not made anymore
b) they run on tiger or panther

so can we upgrade one?
Any places that sell upgraded iBooks, other than eBay?

The most you can run on a Tangerine iBook is OS X 10.3.9 so the answer would be NO.

Also Leopard would only just run if it could run on the iBook, also the hard drive is waay to small and cannot be up graded.
