Dual Core Dual Core
What's the difference between a quad core and a dual core?

So I know what the actual difference is, but what confuses me is the speeds. I have an intel 2 quad core that runs at 2.33 ghz, so what is that equivalent to in a dual core(in terms of ghz) and/or single core?

the quad core has 4 cores which means that it is better than dual core which has two cores.
So for example if u run two programs on a dual core u can run 4 of such programs in the quad core without compromising much on the speed .
if u have a quad core which runs at 2.33 GHz u need a dual core that runs at around 4.67Ghz (there is no fixed rule abt it)
But u know there is no such processor out there which can run at such high frequencies...
and the equivalent in the single core will be something that runs at around 10GHz..and u know there is nothing that runs like that..
Quad core processors have bigger cache memory than single or dual core CPU's...But have a bit less FSB..Although this is no longer the case with the introduction of the Q9 series...
Hope i helped
