Am I stuck with it?
I heard about a 72 hour rule, where if it is broken they have to take it back.
UPDATE** I ended up calling the maker of the camera. they are sending me a new battery for free.
Your only option other than to pay getting it fixed yourself is to see if the warranty is good with the manufacturer. Contact them and tell them your situation and tell them you have the receipt. Most manufacturers honor their warranty's so long as the item does not show any evidence of abuse. If it is a demo model and someone dropped it and you bought it without testing it out first, they may not fix it for free.

If it's a store closeout, then all sales are final. No store has to take any item back. It's a courtesy that we've just learned to expect, but it's not required by law.

All you can do is ask the store if they'll help you out.
The three day rescission period does not apply because you went to a store. It would have applied if a salesman came to your home and convinced you to buy the camera.
